It All Belongs to God - John 8:38        Added 07/01/09
God owns you.
He owns you lock, stock, and barrel.
He also owns your liver, your lungs, and your brain.
Every part of you that longs to the Lord.

You can no longer say, " They are my lungs, I'll smoke if I want to."
They are not your lungs.
You cannot say, "They are my eyes, I will see what I want to."
They are not your eyes.
You cannot say, " It is my mouth, I will say what I please."
It is not your mouth.

You have been bought with a price.
You are no longer your own.

God has two claims on every one of His children.
He has the claim of creation, and He has the claim of redemption.
God owns you because He made you and because He bought you. ....

You Can Do What You Couldn't - John 14:12     Added  07/01/09
Christians have been doing what they couldn't ever since the Day of Pentecost in the first century.

This was the expectation of Jesus.
He said, " In very truth I tell you, he who has faith in me will do what I am doing;
And he will do greater things still because I am going to the Father
." (John 14:12)
The power of a great expectation can lift a person up to a higher level of achievement.
The player of a sports game exceeds himself when his loved ones are in the stands.
The student taking his examination is quickened intellectually by the expectation of a parent
or a friend.
Jesus expects His followers to do great things.
And it is in love for Him that we do them. ...

God Is In Charge - Deut. 1:6            Added 07/01/09
" The Lord our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mountain."
They heard the message of God, and obeyed His divine command, and marched
through the terrible experience of the wilderness to come to the land of promise.

Our text was spoken after the experience of 40 years, and it should help us to understand
God's purpose in governing our lives.

We should be reminded that no one can escape from the government of God.
This is said for our comfort and our warning.
For our comfort we will remember that God has never vacated His throne.
He has never handed over the affairs of the universe, or the smaller matters of this world
in which we live to any other authority.

It is true that men and nations may condition their experience of the Divine government
by their attitude toward it, but they cannot escape it.
A person may fling himself against the laws of God and be broken by them or he may take
comfort beneath the care and grace of God, but he cannot escape God's divine government.
Nations may throw off restraint and laugh at God, but He will deal with them
when their day of calamity comes.

I believe that we, as Christians, need to be reminded often of the actuality
of the governments of God. ....

Reasons Why I Am A Christian -   1 Peter 3:15            Added 07/01/09
"Since Jesus came into my heart,
Since Jesus came into my heart,
Floods of joy o'er my soul
Like the sea billows roll,
Since Jesus came into my heart."

There are so many reasons why I am a Christian.
Becoming a Christian was the most important decision that I ever made.
Becoming a Christian changed my like forever.
Let me share several reasons why I became a Christian so that you will also
come to see that it will be the most important decision you will ever make. ...

God's Sustaining Power - Psalm 55:22      Added 06/17/09
Burdens are a part of life.
We all will have our share of burdens.
If we are to live victoriously, we must know how to handle them.
The psalmist tells us how when he writes, " Cast thy burden up on the Lord,
and He shall sustained thee
." (Psalm 55:22)

It is as simple as that.
It is as profound as that.
This great affirmation is couched not in the context of a lament.
It was first spoken by a man who was being harassed, troubled, and oppressed by an enemy.
(Psalm 55: 3)

We do not know what his enemy was doing to him.
We only know that he was sorely distressed by the situation.
What makes matters worse is that this enemy was someone he thought was his friend.
He was someone he had known well, that he had trusted, and in whom he had great faith.
Someone he thought was a friend let him down.

In that situation he cries out to God, "Oh that I had wings like a dove!
For then would I fly away, and be at rest
." (Psalm 55: 6)

His first inclination was to run away from life.
Many of us have felt that way at times.
But, as he thought about it, he realized that peace is not a matter of position, but of disposition.
What he needed was not wings to fly away, but feet to stand, and strength and grace to stay.
It was then that he came to this conclusion: " Cast thy burden up on the Lord
and He will sustain you.

A Conquering Love -   John 13:34,35    Added 06/08/09
Most of us would have to admit that we know very little about actually loving people.
We know that we have often loved because of the benefits that come to us.
Divine love is impartial.
It loves the repulsive and the attractive.
It loves the beggar and  the wealthy.

Is this love really possible?
And does it work?
When I give myself for the sake of another, when I " fall into the ground and die"
in order to bear fruit, when I deny myself and take up the cross and follow Jesus,
does it make a revolutionary difference?
Or would it turn me into a blind fanatic rushing from one good deed to another
and getting trampled by the strong?

This love is possible, and it is very practical.
It does not come naturally, nor does it come instantly in a rededication service
or some particular experience.
Real love comes from God, who is love, and it is developed in the hard school of life
over many years.
There may be a crisis of appropriating God's love, but a process expressing love follow as
or it all becomes an abscess.
The Bible speaks clearly on how to acquire and develop God's love. ...

Every Christian needs to be reminded often to keep the Greatest Commandment!

Greatest Commandment -  Matthew 22:34-40  Added 03/15/09
The question is, " Do you love the Lord God with all your heart, and do you love
your neighbor as you do yourself."

Jesus said, " If you love me, keep my commandments." (John 14:15)
It is so easy to say, "I love you, Father." "I love you, dear God!"
Have you said that before?
It is easy to say, but not easy to keep.

I like to tell Him how much I love Him: but if I just said I loved Him without keeping
His commandments, then I would be lying.
And so are you, if you say, I love you, Lord, yet don't keep His commandments.

Now, if we don't love God like that, and if, we love ourselves, our pleasures, our money,
our possessions, or anyone or anything more than we love God, then we have broken
the greatest and the first commandment.
And if that is the greatest commandment which Jesus said it was,
then not keeping it could be called the greatest sin. ...

What Makes God Angry! --Romans 1:24-25
Paul tells us in this scripture passage that there are some things that make God angry.
There are things that agitate and antagonize God.
There are things that aggravate God.
Our unrighteousness and and ungodliness makes God angry.
When people use their unrighteousness to prevent God's truth from being known,
 it makes God angry.
Whenever people claim that they know Him, and yet, they do not honor Him
with their words or actions, it makes God angry.
God created people to worship Him, but instead, they worship the images they created,
 and this makes God angry.
Now, if you really want to know how angry God becomes, and if you really want to know
what aggravates God, then, read verses 24 through 25

I Believe in God!   Added 10/09/08
Everything depends on our belief in God.
Does God exist, or are we Christians just imagining the whole thing.
Some people give the impression that thinking people don't believe in God anymore.
God has been put in the same category as Santa Claus and the tooth fairy
and relegated to things we used to believe, but we have now grown out of.
Are we as Christians just uninformed and gullible?
We will take a look at atheism and agnosticism.
An atheist claims that God does not exist.
Atheism is a statement of faith.
 It really is.
The atheists can offer no logical, irrefutable proof for his case.
He may present several philosophical arguments, personal experiences,
and his uninformed opinion, but in the end none of this will be conclusive proof.
Not only that, but the very nature of his case is difficult, as it is always harder to establish
clearly what is not, than what is.

An agnostic is someone who said that they don't know whether there is a God or not.
Perhaps there is, and perhaps there isn't.
People often spend a long time in this state of " not knowing" as they struggle
 to find out about God.
Any one who is genuinely not sure must have our respect, but sometimes people are
agnostic into a more aggressive sense.
It appears in a form like, " Nobody can be certain about anything, so I'm just not going
 to commit myself either way
."
That person is a permanent agnostic.

However sensible this may seem on the surface, problems appear if we probe
 but a little deeper.
So, let us look at the situation, logically.
Either there is a God or there isn't.
